Many people aren’t aware that Kansas law provides a way for individuals to legally change their names if they have been a resident of the state for at least 60 days, and have reasonable cause for wanting the change.  There are many different reasons someone might choose to change their name, including for career purposes (stage names, etc.), to honor a relative, to better reflect your religious or other beliefs, etc.  You might even just want to simplify your name or its spelling if your name is unusual and you are tired spelling it or pronouncing it several times to every new person you meet.

In most cases, this is a relatively quick and easy procedure if you have an attorney who is familiar with the Court’s procedural requirements.  If you are a Kansas resident and would like to legally change your name, Shannon L. Bell of Bell Law Office, LLC can help.
